To save money on entertainment and nights out during the course of this year, our Christmas present to ourselves in December was a one year Cineworld Unlimited card each, and it's one of the best buys we made.
Now we've got the cards we go to the cinema most weekends, at least once and sometimes if a couple of good films have come out together twice. Occasionally we miss a weekend but that only fuels our intent to go again the next weekend. Some days like one day last week I have been tempted to go on my own during the day, although last week's film was a dismal affair.
I try and update the sidebar each time we go and give the films a score out of ten, looking at the list of films we have seen up to now it shows we are watching a wide variety of films, something we wouldn't dream of doing if we had to pay for our cinema tickets each time we went.
Take Saturday's film for instance, we would normally have waited for a film like 'X-Men - Apocalypse' to come to the television screen before we watched it, but we really enjoyed it and had a nice evening out. Yes there was lots of CGI but with a good story and nice characters and dialogue it didn't seem to matter too much at all, in fact we both said it is the best of the Marvel films that we have seen.
Our favourite film of the year so far has been 'Me Before You' and the worst one we have seen together and both didn't like was 'Bad Neighbours 2'.
Anyway it keeps us from spending money on meals out so it's worked fine at curbing our spending for this years entertainment. Oh and someone asked if we had recouped our money for the cards yet and the answer is yes, massively!! If we had paid each week to go to see the films we have already seen it would have cost us just over £700, our cards cost £202 each so a total of £404 ... and we still have the rest of the year to see as many films as we want to. So they have been a very good buy. although I don't think it's something we would do every year.
Today is a No Spend Day
