Day 157 - Books

I went into Asda to get some tomato food and some more small sized plant pots ... I'm going through a ridiculous amount of first sized ones and they are as cheap as chips from Asda .... and I accidently walked up the book aisle (whistles innocently) and look what I spotted.

I was totally tempted, no to be honest I didn't even feel 'tempted' I just picked it up and popped it straight into my basket.  Well it was just £8,  less than half the cover price and I knew I wanted to read it as soon as I finished her first book.

So my year of no books has failed after just five months ... personally I think I did bloody well to last that long!!

The only good thing ...... Today is a No Spend Day

  1. I read the first book by Amanda Owen, after you had read it, and absolutely loved it. I've been very disciplined and ordered the second one from the library but I think I'm in for a very long wait! Can't wait to read it. I think you deserve this treat after being so self disciplined for so long. Let us know what it's like. Enjoy!!! xx

  2. I really fancy her new book too but baulked at spending even half price @ £8. I have a £5 book token to spend but can only use it in WH Smith or Waterstones where her book is on 'offer' at £14.99 so it will cost MORE than £8 even using my token...sigh...Enjoy!

  4. This book will replace the ones you sell at the car boot. Win win :)

  6. It was your book fast that finally put a halt to my quietly pressing the purchase button on the Kindle and foraging the library instead, though they don't have everything I like...I think it's good that you've managed the five months, and you can start again, don't go kicking yourself. Enjoy the book.

  7. This book looks really interesting, I will have to keep my eye out for it. I have been looking back over your year so far and am loving reading all about your frugal living adventures.
Sue, I have nominated your blog for a Liebster Award and will be posting Part 2 of this award, where I pay it forward, on my blog tomorrow morning at 6 am EST Australia. My blog is stayhomeinstead.blogspot.com.au. I hope you enjoy the experience.
    Kind regards

    1. Books don't come out of my housekeeping money, I bought it with my own 'spends' money. The 'no spend days' only relate to the food and household budget. Sorry for the confusion.
